After having made several signing in this summer transfer window, FC Barcelona are now working to sell some of their own players to get a cash injection and resolve its FFP-related issues. One of the players whose sale can provide the Catalans with a significant income is the midfielder Franck Kessie.
Currently, Kessie is training in the USA with the rest of the FC Barcelona squad, as Barcelona prepare to face their arch-rivals Real Madrid. However, the tour has not stopped Barcelona from working on their transfers as there were reports that the Catalan club would meet Juventus in the States for a potential sale of Kessie to the Italian side.
However, according to SPORT, another side has now entered the fray to sign the Ivorian midfielder, the Premier League side Tottenham. The report claims that the Spurs’ involvement can significantly change Kessie’s status, and while they are serious about the footballer, the London side will make a conclusive decision about him next week.
Tottenham are currently waiting for the final outcome of a proposed move for their captain, Harry Kane. Bayern Munich have been interested in the Englishman, and the report claims that his move can significantly alter the Tottenham squad.
Spurs had asked Barcelona about Kessie a few days ago through an intermediary, in order to keep the Catalans from finalizing a deal with Juventus.
Barcelona want a minimum of €15 million for the player, and Juventus have already offered a loan with a mandatory purchase option if they qualify for the Champions League. However, Barcelona want no conditions attached to the mandatory purchase option. The two clubs can reach an agreement soon, but Kessie is not too keen for a return to Italy right now.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are also not in a rush to sell their midfielder, as they expect the market to explode in the coming days, with the potential high-profile transfers of Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe being hot topics in transfer news right now.
