Barcelona target Juan Foyth

Villarreal refuses to negotiate with Barcelona for 25-year-old fullback – report

With only a few weeks left in this summer’s transfer window, the problem of the right-back position at FC Barcelona is still not solved. Several players are being considered by the club for this position, but the whole matter remains unclear and uncertain for now.

Joao Cancelo has been the main candidate that Xavi favors for this position, despite the high price that the Portuguese fullback commands. After hesitating for some weeks, Barcelona are now reportedly open to getting him on loan, as they are unlikely to land his compatriot, Bernardo Silva, this summer.

Recently, the Argentinean Juan Foyth, who had also been on the club’s radar for this position, was reported to be keen on a move to the Catalan capital, and it was reported by Gerard Romero that he had asked his club, Villarreal, about this desire.

However, Diario AS Diario has investigated this matter, and when they contacted Villarreal, the Yellow submarine’s higher-ups told them that no such communication had occurred between the club and Juan Foyth. Thus, they deny that Foyth has requested a move, and the club is also not open to letting another player leave this summer.

Villarreal already had a very busy summer window, in which they have sold important players like Pau Torres, Samu Chukwueze, Danjuma, and Jackson. Therefore, Villarreal believes they have sold the players that they needed to sell, and a player as important as Juan Foyth is not open to a transfer now.

Thus, the only possible way Foyth can leave Villarreal for Barcelona now is if the Catalan club pays his release clause of €40 million, which will be €54 million by the time the last week of this transfer market approaches.

Barcelona are not expected to pay such a high fee for Foyth in their strained financial condition, and this transfer remains highly unlikely to materialize.
