Despite their ongoing problems with injuries, Barcelona remain hopeful. The Catalan giants have lost several crucial components of their team in recent months. However, they continue to hope for good news and it has managed to arrive in various ways.

Many major stars such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Jules Kounde are all injured. The midfield, however, has seen two of the most valued Barcelona stars suffer on the sidelines.

Midfield injuries pile up

20-year-old Golden Boy and Kopa Trophy winner Pedri, as well as Barça captain Frenkie De Jong, are both out injured. Whereas Pedri is expected to make his return soon, De Jong’s injury may keep him sidelined until November. However, things could have gotten much worse.

Unlike other positions, Barcelona possesses reliable depth in their midfield. Despite both Pedri and De Jong being unavailable, stars like Gavi, Ilkay Gundogan, and Fermin Lopez are just a few of the ones there to replace them. Yet, during a recent training session with the Spanish National team, it was initially reported that Gavi had suffered an injury.

Initial scares

Initial reports sunk the hearts of FC Barcelona, but updates began to provide positive clarity. It turned out to be just discomfort and not an injury ultimately. Consequently, it was safe to assume Gavi would be available for Barcelona once he returned from the international break.

Back to training with Spain

Some reports even suggested his availability for the upcoming game against Scotland may be possible. However, it now appears that the player is well and truly back at it. In recent videos and images of the Spanish National team training, Gavi is seen actively participating and joking around with teammates, as highlighted in a report by SPORT.

The 19-year-old Barcelona midfielder may now be among those eligible to play against Scotland. Gavi and the rest of his traveling Barcelona teammates will next be summoned by Xavi to face off against Athletic Bilbao on the 22nd of October, almost 10 days from now.
