FC Barcelona will be taking part in this season’s UEFA Champions League with the hopes of a great campaign. Their recent adventures in the competition have not always been that promising, but the club has remained consistently active. This time around, however, Barcelona may have great hopes to do well for themselves.

The format for the UCL this time will be different, however, and it will be a first for every team involved. Beyond just the total number of teams being increased, the initial group stage format that has traditionally been followed has been scraped and will instead see Barcelona face eight total opponents from four different pots.

Belonging to pot one themselves, Barcelona have now officially found out their upcoming eight opponents that they will have to face in the competition across the next few months. Following the results of the draw held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, here are the opponents that Barcelona will be facing.

Pot one:

From pot one, Barcelona will be facing Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and fellow German side Borussia Dortmund. The game against Bayern will be played at the Montjuic Stadium, or potentially the new Camp Nou, while the clash against the other team from the Bundesliga will take place at Signal Iduna Park.

Pot two:

From pot two, Barcelona will be taking on Italian side Atalanta at home while facing off against Portuguese side SL Benfica away from the Montjuic Stadium as their other pot two opponent.

Pot three:

From the third pot, La Blaugrana will take on BSC Young Boys from Switzerland at home and their second opponent will be Red Star Belgrade from Serbia in a game where Barcelona will have to travel away from home.

Pot four:

Lastly, the final pot produces two opponents for La Blaugrana from the French Ligue 1, those two being Brest and Monaco. The game against Brest will be played at home while the clash against Monaco will take place away from Spain.
