Araujo makes first statement since becoming Barcelona captain – report

A radiant new dawn illuminates the horizon as FC Barcelona undergoes a changing of the guard. “I am very happy and proud to represent FC Barcelona as one of their captains. Together, FORCA BARCA,” Araujo communicated on Instagram. Paired with this message, he shared a picture of him smiling ear to ear with the other three captains accompanying him.

The central defender may only be 24, but passion bleeds into his performances, and he has always made his love for the club clear. From putting his body on the line to gallantly celebrating every instance worthy of joy, he is sure to serve the club well.

When asked if Carles Puyol is an inspiration for him last season, he said, “Yes, that’s why when I do a good defensive action I celebrate it.” Puyol is one of the most revered captains in Barcelona’s history thus Araujo’s admiration for him bodes well.

Ronald Araujo had previously worn the armband in the subsidiary, but this is the first time he is a member of the Blaugrana’s first-team captaincy quartet. Expectations from him are high as he has already established himself as a leader at the back.
