In light of the depleted squad that Barcelona have, the Catalans have a lot to worry about. Ever since the departure of Sergio Busquets, La Blaugrana have lacked in the pivot department. Even now, with certain recruits brought in to help Barcelona, the squad depth remains less than ideal.

The likes of Oriol Romeu could not fill that void, and it had to be an experimental option that ended up giving some positives. Andreas Christensen, a Danish central defender, was Xavi’s ultimate answer to finally giving Barcelona a pivot who could provide defensive cover at the very least.

However, looking ahead, the Catalan giants are definitely looking to recruit a specialist. One of the names on the table is that of Amadou Onana, a 22-year-old Belgian pivot who currently plays for Premier League side Everton with a contract in place until 2027.

Fortunately for Barcelona, it seems that the player has some sort of a connection to the Catalan club. As found by SPORT, the Belgian follows FC Barcelona and La Masia on Instagram. This is worth noting because he does not follow too many clubs on the platform.

Apart from FC Barcelona, he follows both Everton and French club Lille. The Toffees are his current club, while Lille was his former side. It would be almost too poetic to consider Barcelona being his future side, but that plays into the part that it is something he must feel a connection to.

Moreover, the addition of La Masia being there only adds more fuel to the fire. At the moment, speculation suggests that the price tag attached to his name is worth around €40-45 million. However, if Everton end up getting relegated, that price could come plummeting down and offer FC Barcelona a great opportunity.
