As the current season approaches its end and the summer transfer window approaches, transfer reports and rumors associating FC Barcelona with different players have started coming in thick and fast. In recent days, the news of FC Barcelona being interested in Joshua Kimmich has gained significant momentum.
Owing to the difficulty of the operation, keeping in context the relationship between Bayern Munich and Barcelona, the importance of Kimmich for Munich, and the financial situation at the Catalan club, most of the interested spectators are questioning how such a move could materialize.
In this regard, FC Barcelona’s main striker and former Bayern Munich player, Robert Lewandowski, was also recently asked if he has any role to play in this transfer. When a reporter inquired about Kimmich from the Pole, the striker answered that he had heard the rumors of Kimmich being associated with the club, but he himself has not spoken with the player.
Lewandowski and Kimmich have spent several years together at Bayern Munich, as Kimmich joined the Bavarian club a year after Lewandowski, and both were playing together only last year. The pair won several Bundesliga titles in their time at the club and also won a Champions League together.
Now, if the transfer operation of Kimmich to Barcelona actually materializes, they both could be playing together again, only in a different club, though. Barcelona fans will be hoping for this potential partnership to be as fruitful as it was for Bayern Munich and will result in as many titles for the Catalan club as it provided the Bavarian club with.
Lewandowski himself had a mixed first season with FC Barcelona. He started the season on fire but slowed down as the season progressed. Xavi and the fans will be hoping that Lewandowski has gotten over the settlement phase and can regain the scoring form throughout the season as he did in Bundesliga for many years.
