Robert Lewandowski, the star striker of FC Barcelona and top scorer of La Liga, gave an interview to TVE this Friday, where he talked about the achievements of this season, the future of the Barcelona project, and also commented on the potential return of Lionel Messi to the Catalan club among others.
Barcelona Project:
In the interview with TVE, as reported by SPORT, Lewandowski reviewed his first season with the Blaugrana team. The Pole assured that he is “pleased” for what he has achieved and added that he feels “happy” and wants to continue being part of the project.
Regarding the future, the Blaugrana number 9 assured that, without any doubt, he wants to be part of the project, understanding that the club needs time but likes how things have developed at the team.
The conquest of La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup were the highlights of his debut season in the Barcelona colors, but in the Champions League, Xavi’s team said goodbye to the series as early as in a disappointing group stage exit, failing to qualify to the European knockout stage spring.
Messi’s Return:
On the possible return of Lionel Messi to FC Barcelona after two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, the Pole called for patience, saying:
Furthermore, Lewandowski praised the Argentine superstar as he knows that “playing with him is very easy, because Leo can play with you from any position on the field, at any time during the game. He is a player that any team would like to have” added the Barcelona striker.
For Lewandowski, the former legendary forward of Barcelona – who served the Blaugrana crest for 17 years between 2004 and 2021 – is a true number one and he was full of praise for the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner:
Karim Benzema’s possible departure:
Last but not least, the Polish marksman also gad words about the potential departure of his great rival, Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, who can leave the Santiago Bernabéu after donning the royal white colors for 14 years at the Madrid-based club. Lewandowski spoke with respect about the 35-year-old Ballon d’Or-winner forward.
