In recent years, FC Barcelona have completely revamped their first team squad. The current team under Xavi consists of some shrewd signings made in the last few years and some youngsters who either come from La Masia or were brought by the club when they were still quite young.
As the current year comes to an end, the values of the players playing throughout the world have been updated by the portal, Transfermarkt, which specializes in the valuation of football players. As SPORT has noted, there are two major trends in the updated valuation of the players playing for Barcelona.
Firstly, most of the experienced players that Barcelona got from the market have seen their values decrease, apart from Inigo Martinez, who maintains his value. Secondly, the youngsters from La Masia have seen their values rise significantly.
The entire Barcelona squad for this season, i.e., the nineteen first-team players and Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez, is valued at €818 million. This value shows a decrease of €44 million over the previous valuation.
From among these 21 players, only three have seen an increase in their valuations, i.e., Inaki Pena, Fermin Lopez, and Lamine Yamal, all of whom come from La Masia.
Nine players have retained their previous valuation, including; Ter Stegen, Araujo, Koundé, Christensen, Iñigo Martínez, Balde, Marcos Alonso, Gavi, and Ferran.
However, eight players have seen their valuation lowered in the latest update. These players include; Joao Cancelo, Sergi Roberto, Oriol Romeu, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gündogan, Joao Félix, Raphinha, and Lewandowski.
From among the three players who have seen their values rise, Lamine Yamal is the one with the biggest jump, as his value has increased by €10 million. Fermin and Pena have almost doubled their valuations, with the former going from €8 million to €15 million, while the latter growing from €4 to €8 million.
Among those whose values have decreased, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Raphinha, Lewandowski, Joao Felix, and Joao Cancelo have seen their value decline by €10 million each. Gundogan has also lost €2 million and is now valued at €18 million.
