There are only a few days left in the summer transfer window, and it seems difficult that FC Barcelona would be able to conclude business other than the signing of Joao Cancelo and the sale of a few of their players.
In such a context, there are doubts whether Barcelona would be able to sign Joao Felix before the transfer window closes. The Portuguese forward has been closely linked with Barcelona for the last few weeks.
Laporta confident of further signings
Joan Laporta, FC Barcelona President, was also asked recently about the possibility of more signings, and the President’s comments seemed to hint that Felix can still arrive at Barcelona this summer:
“You’d have to ask Deco about that, he’s working to have the most competitive squad possible. This matter isn’t finished. We’ll have room for additions, and I believe there will be more than one singing.”
Felix can come only if a sale is materialized
However, Mundo Deportivo reports that Felix can to Barcelona only if one of the current forwards leaves the club, and that too for a good amount of money. Two such possible forwards who can leave the club in the coming days and help the club in regards to FFP are Ez Abde and Ansu Fati.
There was a meeting between Deco and Abde’s agent last week, in which the Barcelona Sporting Director told the agent that Abde was a part of Xavi’s plans for this season. Abde also wants to remain at Barcelona, but everything is open for now, and Barcelona would let him leave for around €30 million, with the player wanting to stay in Spain even if he leaves.
Ansu Fati has rejected any move that aimed to take him away from Catalan capital, and is adamant that he wants to stay and succeed at the Catalan club. His agent, Jorge Mendes, has been in contact with several big European clubs for his sale, but the player is not interested in leaving the club.
Thus, unless one of Abde or Fati end up leaving the club in the coming days, Joao Felix’s move to Barcelona seems to be impossible to complete in this summer transfer window, despite the optimism shown by Laporta.
