Real Madrid beat FC Barcelona with the thinnest of margins in this season’s first El Clasico last night, but the performances of the two teams have left a lot to be debated.

Xavi’s team was clearly dominating the match in the first half and could have doubled, or even tripled, the lead that Gundogan’s early goal had given them.

However, the Blaugranes were unable to capitalize on their chances, and Real Madrid got two goals in the second half to turn the game around and emerge as the winners.

Carvajal’s comments after USA Clasico

As has been reported by SPORT, the debate on who actually deserved to win was fuelled by the social media activity of one of Real Madrid’s players, Dani Carvajal.

The fullback predicted after losing the pre-season game against Barcelona in Dallas that: In official competitions, we will walk over Barça (FC Barcelona)

Barcelona fans unamused by Carvajal’s social media activity

After the match last night, one user on the social media platform “X” shared a video of Carvajal making these comments, and the fullback responded to this post with an emoticon of a face with sunglasses, visibly basking in the glory of getting a prediction turn out to be true.

However, Barcelona fans were not too amused by Carvajal’s reaction because they believed it would be an exaggeration to claim that Real Madrid passed Barcelona by in the last match.

Real Madrid barely won the match with a goal in the last moments of the match and trailed Barcelona for the most part, even though the Catalans were missing some of their most important players.
