Several FC Barcelona players have been performing below their usual standards this season, which has resulted in the club’s poor performance in the last few weeks. Robert Lewandowski is the most prominent name from whom a lot was expected this season, but who has not performed up to the expectations.
Lewandowski’s poor form is definitely contributing to Barcelona’s poor attacking record this season, but another forward who has struggled to shine is the Brazilian winger, Raphinha.
The Brazilian was expected to be an important player in Xavi’s team after Dembele’s departure, but he has yet to show that he can be relied upon by Xavi going forward.
In fact, there has already been speculation that Raphinha will leave Barcelona. One of the ways for his exit from Barcelona has been proposed by the English side Manchester United, who reportedly offered Barcelona a swap of Raphinha and Jadon Sancho recently.
This operation has not advanced from its initial stages, but the Premier League side is desperate to get rid of the 23-year-old English winger. However, as SPORT has reported, the high wages of the Englishman are putting off clubs across Europe from making a bid for him.
The winger is currently earning around €400,000 per week with Manchester United. Such big wages are not affordable for even the biggest clubs across Europe, and definitely not affordable for Barcelona in their current economic situation.
Some Premier League sides can afford these wages, but United does not want him to join a direct rival. In addition to Barcelona, other names that have been linked with the player include his former side Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.
The former is suspicious of Sancho’s form after having dropped down from the starting eleven at United, while Leipzig do not want to pay the high wages.
United has also probed teams from La Liga, including Barcelona, and the Serie A, but none of them are ready to take such a huge burden on their wage lists.
