It has been some weeks since Xavi Hernandez announced his decision to leave FC Barcelona and several coaches have been linked with the Catalan club in the days since that announcement.

Among these names, there has also been Luis Enrique, who has not been linked as closely with Barcelona as some other coaches but is someone who will raise the hopes of the Blaugrana faithful the highest if he were to be appointed as Xavi’s successor.

The Spaniard won a treble during his time at Barcelona, and it was also under his guidance that the Catalans won their last Champions League title. Thus, Barcelona fans have very fond memories of his time and would welcome him if there was a chance of him coming back.

Furthermore, he also has a lot of experience in leading teams at the top level, and this experience allows him to handle pressure like few other candidates can. His proven way of working with young talents and his knowledge of the club also makes him an ideal candidate for the top Barcelona brass.

However, as SPORT has claimed, his name can safely be ruled out from the list of possible successors of Xavi, as the board understands that he has a contract with PSG and he always fulfills his commitments.

Thus, the Catalans have made no contact with him up to now, as he still has one year left on his current contract. Furthermore, the Spaniard is also happy in Paris and wants to complete the second year of his contract on a high.

On the other hand, the Parisians themselves are also quite content with Enrique, even though the club is going through a difficult period because of Kylian Mbappe’s approaching departure.

However, the coach has approached this matter in an exemplary manner, and there have also been reports of the Parisians looking to extend his contract for yet another year. Thus, despite his suitability at Barcelona, he is one of the names that is very unlikely to replace Xavi at the Catalan club.
