Vitor Roque arrived at FC Barcelona this week, and while the Brazilian is still only 18 years old, he is expected by most fans to be a historical signing for the club.
As already reported here, FC Barcelona are not planning to give a starting spot to the youngster right after his arrival, as they want Robert Lewandowski to keep leading the team’s attack in the upcoming decisive phase of the season, and want Roque to have a minimal pressure as he adapts to this new chapter of his life.
However, it can be reasonably expected that the youngster will still get significant chances to impress in the upcoming weeks, as he has qualities that can improve the team’s offensive output and efficiency.
As SPORT has reported, Alexandre Mattos, the former Sporting Director of Athletico Paranaense, also believes that Vitor Roque has all the required qualities to succeed at Barcelona, as he claimed in recent statements:
“He has enough virtues to succeed. He’s strong, mentally robust, and has a good goal-scoring ability… He’s strong, always ready to score, and poses a threat due to his speed. Defenders always have major concerns facing him.”
Mattos went on to compare Roque with the legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldo, and claimed the former could follow in the latter’s footsteps to become one of the best players in the world:
“He’s explosive, powerful, has the ability to score goals, and possesses the necessary qualities to become one of the best strikers in the world.”
The former Sporting Director was also convinced that the player will not face many problems as he adapts to his new life in Europe:
“Mentally he’s ready to make the leap from Brazil to Europe, even at just 17 years old. He played in the Copa Libertadores as if he was playing at home. He’s prepared to compete in Europe.”
